Elizabeth really knows here stuff, purchased a few items of jewellery from her for my wife (including engagement ring) and always get first class service. I would always check here before any other jeweller in town.
Always felt a little intimidated by antique shops but was made to feel very welcome by all the staff at Elizabeths shop.. I bought a champagne glass for my wife's birthday which they wrapped beautifully and handwrote a description of item.. I've been back for several more items and love the place many thanks

Excellent book shop, FULL of great books covering almost all subjects.. Second use books in very good condition and very well priced.. Find books over THREE floors.. Steps up to each floor. It's an older style property in Colchester and almost opposite the Church.. Which is out of use now.. Really helpful and friendly.. Going in again soon.. In Trinity Street.. Opposite the Library on the very corner of Tymperlys... Really well worth a visit if you are after excellent in depth books.. Non fiction..
Found the book I was looking for even though it was rather 8 niche book

Excellent service and a willingness to listen to my exact requirements. They carried out the work on my 130 year old pocket watch with exceptional skill and in a timely manner. Communication was very good and their charges for work that is not easy to get done anywhere else I consider to be value for money. Don't go there looking for a cheap job, go there if you want a good job.
Today was the second time I took in my vintage Omega watch after it had stopped working and the second time I was helped by Chimes for a very reasonable price. Lovely service and really happy. They have earned a long term customer in me!

Been getting my hair cut with Michael Hoines for years now and have never been unhappy with the result. It’s very hard with curly hair to find a great cutter and stylist but he does it every time! ☺️
Simply the best hair salon in Colchester. All the girls are extremely talented and nothing is too much trouble. I met the girls at a wedding fair 5 years ago and would never consider going to anyone else for my hair. My daughter loves coming here too and we will both be having our hair done at Blowers for many years to come. Great bunch of girls!

Very satisfied with the hair services. Less so with the nails ( a bit messy around the edges)
I have found a friendly salon that truly listens to what you want and has the skills to produce it! Very happy with my cut and natural looking highlights. Thank you.

A brilliant destination for those looking for something special. Lovely staff who go out of their way to give you brilliant customer service. A personal, friendly and professional oasis far from the generic stores.
One of the friendliest independent book shops I've ever been into. The staff are knowledgeable and are able to answer almost any question that you may have (on books at least, I have never challenged them on orthopedic foot care). Beware though, you'll want to buy loads of books!
42 Culver St E, Colchester CO1 1LE, UK – 01206 561912
Love this place! Comic books stores are few and far between now with having to buy and collect most of your memorabilia online. But ace comics is a great size store with a fantastic range, if comics, figures, board games everything you inner nerd screams for. Staff are knowledgeable and love what they do and afe always happy to help.
Great selection of comics, especially back issues. Cool choice on RPGs and card builders. Toys are a little lacking unless you want pop vinyls and/or marvel but it's a small shop so can't really complain. All in all, brilliant shop for comics.

Going on my own experiences over the years(I get the rd bug every few years, most recently last week) of using this shop and taking in others reviews on this shop I would like to add the following.the shop is very well stocked and a is still set out the same way as I remember as a child (possibly 25 years ago??) But I like that, it has models everywhere, stock hung from the ceiling, it's brilliant.. as for people saying that the staff are rude.. its easy to agree with this if maybe your a one off customer and are used to wishy washy customer salesmen but maybe the people saying this are just too polite and push overs themselves, these guys know their stuff and like what they like.and are happy to offer advice.price wise, everything I've bought recently can be found for a few quid cheaper here and there online, but these guys have to buy this stuff in, stock it for an unknown amount of time so you can pop in and buy it at 4pm on a Saturday ,you can't do that online!!!..I will continue you to use this shop for many years, thank you guys, ill see you on Tuesday for more spares as crashed my new riot 3times already..oops.
Friendly and very knowledgeable staff member named Dave. Very helpful, thanks!

We are on a big cycle tour and had to get a broken spoke fixed. It was Sunday afternoon and we were not too hopeful to get it done soon, but then we phoned here and were told they could fix it! And the super nice bike mechanic did a great repair job in less than twenty minutes! Thank you for the great service!
Bikes, and vehicle bits and bobs. Reliable store and been going forever. Website good too

Got my new car from Lookers Volvo in Colchester. Andy Fern is a great salesman. Extremely polite and courteous at all times. He was very knowledgable about the car and got the best deal for me. Andy is a credit to Lookers and to the Volvo brand. Will definitely purchase from Andy again.
jeremy thanks for test drive xc60 today. other volvo dealers could learn from you. excellent touch the pre drive video intro. The test drive was very comprehensive and effort was given in the instruction of controls. No sales pressure applied. i would recommend this dealer very highly, full marks jeremy!!! T8 also mega impressive

I've visited Lookers Colchester a few times over the last 6 months, and as I was looking for a used car no one ever seemed bothered to come and talk to me about what I wanted, in fact, not one person bothered to step foot off the forecourt, until this past Sunday. I would just like to thank Alban Alex at Lookers Colchester for actually stepping out of the showroom and coming to speak to me about what I wanted. 2 days later and I'm now driving around in my new car. I would definitely recommend speaking to Al (trust me you won't miss him he's the one with the funny accent ;) just kidding!)... anyway, he's helpful, listens and is clearly just happy to be with customers and isn't about "closing the deal". Awesome service, thanks again Al.
We were dealt with promptly but never felt the salesman was pushy or did we ever feel under any pressure. We were offered drinks on arrival. He was very polite and professional throughout the whole transaction with weekly updates via video messages. We really felt special when collecting our new car and having bought cars from the premium brands in the past we didn't feel there was any difference in service. In fact, in some areas Lookers Ford were better. The car arrived at the dealership when promised, the handover was smooth with the salesman being completely organised and very knowledgeable with the new car and all the regular paperwork. I would be completely comfortable recommending Lookers Ford Colchester to friends and family and will definitely go back there for our next new car. 5 stars, well done 👍🙂 thanks for reading.

Great company to do business with. I have bought most of my cars from ACS and have always found them genuine, helpful and caring. The after sales service is excellent and the cars are top quality.Highly recommended!

I purchased a 57 plate Peugeot 206 over 2 years ago as my daughter's 1st car .. after spending a fair bit on it on different things the clutch went. After explaining all we had spent previously we were delighted that Noel offered a solution to the clutch repair/renewal.... what a fantastic business and if Carlsberg did after sales service.... probably...... 5 STAR firm... 5 STAR owners.... highly highly highly recommend this superb business model. Thank you Noel and the team at Calibre Car Sales. Mick Tucker.. a very satisfied customer. 😁👏😁👏😁👏😁
Happy with the car myself and my husband recently bought. Prices are competitive, not the cheapest or the dearest so somewhere in the middle. Got a good discount on the screen price and a new MOT.

120 Hythe Hill, Colchester CO1 2NP, UK – 01206 870553
Hi, spoke to Norman by phone and asked all the usual questions about a bike in his showroom, his description was exactly as is, this is a very well run family business, they were very courteous to me and helped me in any way they could as I had travelled a long way to view this bike. They gave me a great deal and I bought the bike, I have no problem recommending Hythe Hill Motorcycles, I will definitely deal with them again, Many thanks, D Walsh,
Knowledgeable friendly staff more than willing to help even if it means sending customers to another business
6 Commerce Way, Colchester CO2 8HH, UK – 01206 860006
First class friendly service. This really is the best experience I have had in buying a motorcycle. The staff are very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. You all show the way that motorcycle sales should be made with very helpful and friendly good advice. Special thanks to Dave Chaney, James Hogben and Emma Field for your professionalism and helpful manner. Brilliant! MD - These people must be worthy of a bonus!! Big thanks and kind regards, Si
Recently bought a new bike, my second from Colchester Kawasaki. Faultless service, highly recommend speaking with Dan Mear. He’s been friendly, helpful, and has really ‘gone the extra mile’. The dealership has lots of facilities, and any time I’ve popped in I’ve had a bite to eat, looked at some jackets, just wandered about. It’s a great place to go, and if you’re looking at buying a new bike it’s definitely somewhere to check. Thanks guys!
33 St John's St, Colchester CO2 7AD, UK – 01206 571432
This is one of Colchester's better charity shops - and fits the quality level found in almost every Oxfam store across the country. They sell a mixture of the following - clothes (mens, womens), books (fiction, nonfiction, children's), CD's (albums, compilations, singles and the odd boxset), vinyl records (pop, rock and classical), audio cassettes, DVD movies, video games (most systems), children's toys and a selection of new items including greeting cards. Out of this selection I am mostly interested in the music and video games, of which the range is average. On the CD's side I have found in the past some great deals including titles such as DJ Shadow's Endtroducing..... and The Wallflowers Bringing Down the Horse. Regarding vinyls again, a good selection and usually better titles than found in other charity shops in Colchester including titles from big 80s bands. Video games wise again a good selection, but its not very big and sometimes you can go in and they haven't got much of a range - usually see PC and Playstation games more than anything else. Pricing in this shop is a little higher than some of the other shops, as it always is with Oxfam stores. Rarely is there a static price covering items, meaning that one CD might cost 50p/£1 more than another. With that in mind the audio CD's are usually priced between 50p for singles up to £2 for double disc compilations. Vinyls are priced anywhere from £1.50 for cheap budget LP's to £6 for high quality albums from popular groups - however most are usually sold for around £3-4. Video games are priced between 50p for Playstation (one) games, and either £1 or £1.50 for PS2/Xbox/PC games. DVD's follow the same pricing strategy as the video games with prices usually being around £1.50. Audio cassettes seem to now be at a static price of about 50p per cassette - however doubles/triples might be more. Quality of the items is usually extremely high for a charity shop, I know that Oxfam employ a high degree of quality control with their donations and check sensitive media such as CD's, DVD's or Vinyls for visual defects. Most of the time you can always pop the disc to check yourself, but take my word for it - there is never a need to. Never have any of my purchases failed to play properly. From what I know from other friends who visit the store regularly, this level of quality is apparent with the other product lines. The staff who work there are usually mainstays, and so faces soon become familiar. On a Saturday they will open up two checkouts on either side of the store, which allows you to be served quickly. Staff are always happy to serve you and help, and even give their opinion on various items. The store seems to attract nice people, and isn't cursed by the horrible "musty, old people" smell that so many charity shops fall victim too. It also is usually very tidy, which makes it easy to find things. However I am less likely to "dig" through things, and thus spend less time in the store. The store also stands out in the fact that it accepts debit and credit cards for almost all purchases. However as always when it comes to charity shops it helps to pay using cash.
Sehr gute Angebote und gleichzeitig hat man auch noch ein gutes Gefühl, weil alles zu 100% gespendet wird

15 Cavalry Rd, Colchester CO2 7GH, UK – 01206 570371
Always helpful staff. If you are unable to get GP appointment on a day GP will call you and discuss your symptoms which is a way better solution than going to walk-in centre. Wheelchair access. There is adjacent pharmacy open till 10pm. Nice and bright building. You can have blood test done by appointment only.
Unit D-E Sheepen Retail Park, Sheepen Rd, Colchester CO3 3GT, UK – 0333 004 4444
It's a Matalan. The store hasn't changed wildly over the 10+ years I have been going. The staff are pleasant enough and there always seems to be a decent amount of them around. The items are usually pretty good and fairly priced.
Great prices and choices. Something for everyone. While there is always quite a queue it moves quickly. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. Parking is not usually a problem but disabled parking is a problem as frequently used by the able bodied and does not appear to be policed. Inside the store some parts are not accessible for the wheelchair user. Similarly some racks are too high leaving you to rely on other shoppers.
36 Sir Isaac's Walk, Colchester CO1 1JJ, UK – 01206 763037
I've been a few times and I'm always impressed. Lovely products, but, mainly, great staff. They're always very helpful, willing to take everything down and help with useful advice and suggestions. They helped me attach different parent consoles on my daughter's stroller to see what suited me, several reins on my daughter, and, more importantly, did not even flinch when my daughter pulled down one of the shelves in an attempt to reach a bag and embarrass me! On the contrary, they were very sweet. I appreciated that greatly. Yes, it is pricier than online shops (obviously), but you get service.
Lovely products and very friendly customer service

A life saver As an insurance claims analysts I deal with large and complex excel sheets often impossible to work with. My daily working hours are mostly spent trying to adjust these reports and make them usable for my company purposes. I was given access to some standard training within our business but that proved to be unsuitable for what I needed. Recently I was asked to contact Karen who has been dealing with these types of tasks for many years. I only had one session and it proved to be life changing. During our session Karen was quickly able to understand my problem and put together a bespoke training program she personally delivered. It was excellent. I am now able to modify the excel sheets to match the company requirements with the click of a button and I can now create my own complex macros to generate claims analysis report in a matter of minutes. My managers recognised a huge improvement in my performance! The only downside is that this has freed up so much of my time that my workload has considerably increased. Thank you Karen this was truly a lifesaving training session
Went in with noisy fan, not really solvable but wouldn’t hesitate going back with intel product...Tom was excellent & helpfull

The whole team are friendly, helpful and professional. I personally recommend my own friends and family to Cymax as I know they will get quality products and customer service that cares. Absolutely fantastic.

I can't say enough about Ross-IT. I had already brought my laptop to a big chain and they were saying it would take over two weeks to fix and be expensive and even then they might not be able to fix it. Ross fixed it within 24 hours. He was professional and the customer service was exemplary. I was worried about losing my computer and I rely on it for my work so Ross saved me from literally weeks of lost work and dissatisfied customers. He explained everything to me but he didn't treat my like I was stupid. Ross-IT is everything you would want in an IT company. His rates were reasonable he did what he said and he delivered extremely fast. I would trust him with my computer anytime. I highly, HIGHLY recommend him and I am so very grateful. Kind Regards, Daniela
Delivered my computer to Ross with an issue with my computer camera. He gave it back to me with a rapid turnaround and the problem fixed. Deffo reccoment

A wide range of different artists materials, primarily aimed at traditional work. The prices are reasonable and they are very helpful and knowledgeable about their products (and will order anything they don’t have in stock). The stock would not be suitable for some more modern methods, ink nib pens available but not so many refillable ink pens, for example.
Simply, my favourite art shop. Could happily spend all day browsing. Extraordinary range of quality art materials, plus exciting live art demonstrations by local artists and workshops for all abilities.

Not the greatest of experiences, going somewhere else now. Like said before by other reviewers: the staff didn't really know their stuff, wanted to charge you extra for things that should be included in a service that is advertised on their website - prices was also different to what is on their website. Also one REALLY annoying thing is that you can't book in your bike. You drop it off and they get to it when they get to it, so it will just end up standing in their shop till its next on the list. If you are dependent on your bike to get around (like a student) or you have a big event coming up, this is definitely not the place to go. If you have an entry level bike and it just needs some TLC for the good weather and you don't care too much when you get it back and wouldn't mind being told a different price to whats on the website, this place isn't so bad. PS: Still better that Halfords
Was really pleased with service at first, a spoke on my wheel snapped so phoned up and they seemed really helpful and suggested I came down so I did. They agreed to put a new spoke in and straighten the wheel for 14.99 which seemed reasonable and as they could it there and then (come back collect in a couple of hours) which I was happy with. I collected the wheel and they had done a really good I thought! I asked the guy to check all the spokes and he said he had anyways I was excited to get back on the bike so I put the wheel in and went on a ride well 5miles later another spoke has broken. I decieded to google it and all the web forums said it is domino effect and once goes they all go unless the wheel is rebuilt or all the spokes are loosened and started again! Anyways I'm not an expert but I just feel I've wasted £14.99 and im in the same position I was in earlier on today!!
50 St John's St, Colchester CO2 7AD, UK – 01206 563890
Great place run by knowledgeable enthusiasts. Brian got me back on the road with an emergency brake repair, whilst on tour from London. The shop is brilliant. An Aladdin's cave of vintage, good value budget (Orbea) and high specced machines. I wish there were more places like this still around. Recommended.
I have a love-hate relationship with this place. Brian Lewes, the owner, is a genuine and knowledgeable man and I would recommend this place based on that. Sadly, there is a certain level of disorganisation here. Staff often fail to communicate with one another, and it seems that work carried out here can vary in quality, as if some of the mechanics are good, and some do not really know their stuff, or staff tell you they don't have something in stock when they do. I would consider buying a new bike here myself, and do send friends here, but only because I then check it over after purchase (and sometimes put things right). One of the good things about this place is that the shop is a proper shop with stock you can LOOK at, rather than everything needing to be ordered in (which, given the efficiency of the ordering-in process is just as well). One of the two bike shops I use in Colchester. There seems to be a very fair first-come-first-served approach to customers which can be a nuisance when you just want to buy an inner tube and the customer in front is discussing a three-speed hub repair for ten minutes, but at least it shows they have time for people. As I said, it's all love-hate.
Peartree Business Centre, Peartree Rd, Stanway, Colchester CO3 0JN, UK – 01206 764545
I brought my new Giant at the Ipswich store and then booked a bike fit at the shop in Colchester. I have to say the bike fit was excellent. Graham is highly experienced and a master of this. It was a whole new learning experience for me but he explained every part and at the end of a three hour session I have already noticed a difference in my ability to ride more efficiently and comfortably. I would recommend this to anybody if they want to be comfortable on their dream machine. Cycle Revolution also uses the latest technology and information and the staff a very personable and understanding.
After finding a fault with a Giant cycle I had purchased else where, cycle Rev’s have been amazing in there help in getting the fault sort and sorting me with an upgrade! Above and beyond the expected service I had hoped for! 5* see you all soon thank you team cycle Rev’s Ipswich
Lightship Way, Colchester CO2 8FR, UK – 01206 790098
Nice relaxed store, but i can never find what im looking for without having to ask someone and when you do get there its out of stock. And trolleys don't get me on trolleys what are those awkward bloody things they got there i don't want 4x8 plaster board. why can't they have some large shopping trolleys? I've only got 2 arms i nicked a basket from the supermarket comes in well handy when you have a load of small bits to get. B+Q sort out your trolleys. Thx
Big b&q. Can find most things here but the size can work against you at times. Still prefer sister company Screwfix however. Staff are pleasant enough but are usually busy doing things.

Older building but a good siz stocking the usual range bits and bobs. Uneven car park so watch your footing. The only issue I have with all the ranges I go to is the time it takes to get through the checkout. Staff are quite friendly and will show you where a product is.
Free to park. Big store. Upstairs too. Pet corner.

Came across Guntons while searching for some chocolates. Placed an order and was emailed very quickly to say there was an issue and giving me the option to cancel. Decided to stick with the order to which they kindly added another box. Would definitely order again.
Just one of those precious, special places where you can spend hours looking and buying. Great shop, fantastic stuff, and a place you wouldn't want to miss even if it was just during your daily walk. Nice coffee and sandwiches.

The advice you get is of best quality, and very sound, from someone who knows what they are talking about; ever since I changed my former protein supplier to Matrix my training has improved, and I will guarantee so will yours. Because the products are the best of the range, although you might be able to purchase cheaper products elsewhere I wouldn't recommend doing so: cost per use the products you buy at Matrix are better value, and are better for your body too. If you take your training seriously, stick to Matrix!
Excellent service, all ways happy to help out and go into a in depth description of products and a all round great store! would recommend

Colne View Retail Park, Cowdray Avenue, Colchester CO1 1YN, UK – 0345 600 9295
Helpful staff. Reasonable prices for the most part if you like convenience. When buying a pet, personal experience was positive as the member of staff took as much time as was needed to talk us through the welfare of the animal and what was required from us to ensure we cared for it properly. Only minor gripe would be with the in-store vets as there was some confusion around what we were entitled to a customers having recently purchased from the store vs. being actual customers of the vets, too.
Good shop. I get my dog food, frozen and pedigree chum for my "mcdonalds" dog. And my snake food. They never run out of either. The only downfall is there's always a long queue and not enough people on the till.

20 Short Wyre St, Colchester CO1 1LB, UK – 01206 767600
First class, friendly and fast service. I've used these guys for years & won't use anyone else.
I had Paul come out and install the sky dish, hang a large TV and full Sonos system in the house. He also hid wires for the surround sound system to the television in the wall. I cannot rate these guys high enough. Friendly, quick turnaround, good time keeping and extremely clean and tidy. With holes being drilled in my newly built house I was getting worried but Paul left my walls good as new having filled them and left them ready for me to touch up with a dab of paint. I was particularly pleased with the sky dish installation as they ran the wire straight into my loft and activated my cable sockets rather than running wires down the outside of my house like sky would have done.

We have used the Cake Story for all the cakes of our birthdays parties for the last few years. This included the amazing 21st birthday cake for our daughter which Cake Story use as a design on their website. There is a wide selection of designs on their website which can be personalized to your wishes. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of the product. The cakes have a very light sponge with tasty fillings. We always order fresh buttercream topping . The cakes always taste fresh and not too sickly sweet like supermarket ones. Service is always polite and friendly. The best thing about Cake Story is that they can make a beautiful fresh cake with little notice. We have ordered a cake with just 3 days notice and that wasn't a problem for them. The Cake Story is a hidden gem in Colchester. We thoroughly recommend them.
Excellant, delicious cakes. I have ordered several big bday cakes from cake storey over the last 2 years. Never been disappointed. Always made as described. Taste amazing. Butter cream great choice. I always show them pictures of cake ideas face to face so no confusion and they always get it spot on. Very helpful staff. Great prices too. Highly recommended.

Absolutely brilliant! Ordered balloons for my dad's 70th birthday party. The roads were closed in the area they needed to be delivered too, but although it took over an hour and a half they still got to us and in plenty of time before the party started. The balloons were of high quality and beautifully arranged. Would highly recommend Heart to Heart balloons. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
They were absolutely brilliant! I forgot to bring my nieces birthday balloon to her party, feeling awful I phoned them up to get another one made asap. It was ready for me to collect within 10 minutes and it was decorated with ribbon beautifully. Although they did not have a shimmer and shine balloon available the staff were very helpful over the phone informing me on what balloons they had in Stock. Overall, very impressed!

Excellent wholesale suppliers. Large range of products. Friendly, helpful staff. Fresh fruit and veg are available as well as frozen, chilled and preserved. A good variety / quality of meat both chilled and frozen. Their fresh chicken breasts are particularly good. Massive range of alcoholic drinks including beer, wine and spirits. The confectionary range has just about everything. I haven't been into the tobacco products area but it looks well stocked. Excellent wholesaler for both restauranteur and retailer
